Sóller area guide: things to do, local history and walks

Take the train into Sóller, then the tram to the port. Between the mountain journey and the bay there’s a town square worth lingering in, and if you’ve still got energy, Biniaraix is a good place to use it.

What to see and how to plan your visit

Start at Plaça de sa Constitució in Sóller town. Give the port its own visit, and check tram timetables if you want to travel between them by tram.

Local history and heritage

The landing and fighting of 1561 are remembered in Es Firó. The Camí de sa Figuera connects the commemoration to a path people can see today. The town’s buildings, orchards and transport history give a fuller picture of the valley.

The Serra de Tramuntana cultural landscape

UNESCO’s World Heritage listing recognises a cultural landscape shaped by agriculture, water management and dry-stone construction. Use the official boundary maps to see how the designated landscape relates to the places you plan to visit.

Suggested walk or outdoor visit

The Consell publishes the Camí de sa Figuera walk. Check its direction, surfaces and return transport before starting.

Regular markets

  • Sóller town: Saturdays in the streets of the town centre.
  • Port de Sóller: Thursdays on Carrer d’Antoni Montis.

What makes this area special

The historic train brings you into the valley and the tram links the town to its port. Biniaraix is a separate outing into the terraces and stone paths.

Beaches and swimming spots

  • Platja d’en Repic. The sandy beach on the southern side of the bay. Choose it for a beach stop with a promenade and lunch nearby.
  • Es Través. The port-side beach is a good fit if you’re coming by tram and want the waterfront on the same outing.

Check the flag and current conditions on the day. If you need step-free access or specific facilities, use the linked beach information to pick your entrance.

Before you go, see our Mallorca beach etiquette and safety guide for swimming flags, Blue Flag beaches and what to do in an emergency.

Patiki Beach sits at the far end of Platja d’en Repic. It’s an easy place to end a walk round the port with lunch by the water. See our beach club and chiringuito guide.

What to eat here

Try locally grown oranges when they’re in season, or stop for an orange juice in the square. If you’re following the tram to the port, lunch by the bay makes a good second stop.

Good to know before you go

The Palma–Sóller train and port tram have separate timetables. Check the return before you choose how much time to spend at the port.
