Porreres area guide: things to do, local history and walks

Start in Plaça de la Vila, where Porreres is easy to get to know on foot. Then head up to Monti-sion if you fancy a view across the plain. Give yourself time for both and the outing takes care of itself.

What to see and how to plan your visit

Start with the main streets and the parish church of Nostra Senyora de la Consolació. Set aside time for Monti-sion rather than squeezing it between stops.

Local history and heritage

The Monti-sion sanctuary helps explain the significance of hilltop religious sites in the Pla. The parish and oratories in town offer a contrasting view of worship in the centre of the community.

Suggested walk or outdoor visit

The Consell describes the walk from Porreres to Monti-sion. Plan for the uphill walk out or arrange transport, and check the route before leaving town.

Regular markets

Tuesday mornings in the village centre. Stalls extend around Plaça de la Vila, Avinguda del Bisbe Campins, Carrer de l’Hospital and part of Pou Florit.

Look for Porreres apricots in season or dried apricots when available. For a longer stop, try a local lunch around the centre before heading up to Monti-sion.

Good to know before you go

Allow separate time for the sanctuary outside town. Check whether you want to walk or drive before deciding where to leave the car. Check the TIB planner if you’re relying on public transport.

Where to stay

Finca Son Jorbo

A country stay just outside Porreres. Google guests mention the peaceful setting and the generous breakfast served by the hosts. If breakfast tends to turn into a long discussion about the day ahead, this is a good place to have it.

Google guest reviews averaged 5.0 out of 5 from 89 reviews when checked in November 2026.

Frequently asked questions
