Llucmajor area guide: things to do, local history and walks
Give Llucmajor town a morning of its own before you follow the municipality down to the coast. There’s a square to settle into, prehistoric stonework at Capocorb Vell and everything from busy s’Arenal to a smaller stop at s’Estanyol.

What to see and how to plan your visit
Choose Llucmajor town for the squares and streets, or make the coast the focus of a different outing. Plan Capocorb Vell separately and check its admission and access.
Local history and heritage
The settlement of Capocorb Vell shows a far older layer of life on Mallorca than the modern town or resorts. Visit the archaeological site to see how the stone structures are arranged.
A short walk
Make Capocorb Vell the focus of a short heritage visit. Stay within the site’s permitted paths and allow for exposed ground.
Regular markets
- Llucmajor town: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 7am to 1pm in Plaça d’Espanya. On Fridays, the council also lists crafts on Carrer del Bisbe Taixequet and second-hand stalls on Passeig de Jaume III.
- S’Arenal, on the Llucmajor side: Tuesday to Saturday mornings in Plaça Major. Thursday’s street market also extends into nearby streets.
- Other settlements: Wednesday mornings in Maioris. Saturdays in Badia Gran, Plaça de l’Almirall Joan de Borbó, and Les Palmeres, in the main square. In s’Estanyol, the council lists a seasonal Saturday market in Plaça del Pescador from July to September.
What makes this area special
The inland town, prehistoric remains and long coastline make more sense as separate outings.
Attractions and things to do
- Plaça d’Espanya and Sant Miquel church
- Capocorb Vell prehistoric settlement
- S’Arenal seafront and the smaller coastal stop at s’Estanyol
Fiestas and saints’ days
- Sant Miquel, Llucmajor town: 29 September.
- The town’s autumn fair period traditionally runs from Sant Miquel towards the Sunday before Sant Lluc, 18 October. Check the individual fairs and event dates.
Use the feast day as a guide, then check this year’s programme for the procession, music or other events you’d like to catch.
Beaches and swimming spots
- Cala Pi. A narrow sandy cove at the bottom of steps. Choose s’Arenal if step-free access is important.
- S’Arenal. A seafront stop for sand and cafés. The resort continues over the boundary into Palma, so pin the part you’re heading to.
Check the flag and current conditions on the day. If you need step-free access or specific facilities, use the linked beach information to pick your entrance.
Before you go, see our Mallorca beach etiquette and safety guide for swimming flags, Blue Flag beaches and what to do in an emergency.

What to eat here
Try an ensaïmada with coffee in Llucmajor town or look for a Mallorcan savoury coca to take out. Save the seafront for lunch if you’re heading to the coast.
Good to know before you go
Llucmajor town, Cala Pi and s’Arenal are quite separate. Check the exact beach access, especially if steps would rule it out.
