Consell area guide: things to do, local history and walks

The Sunday flea market is many people’s introduction to Consell. There’s a village to see beyond the stalls, and vineyards in practically every direction. If you’re coming for a tasting, book ahead and give yourself time for a wander around Plaça Major.

What to see and how to plan your visit

Use the church square and surrounding streets as the centre of your visit. Check the local calendar if you want to time it around a market.

Local history and heritage

Consell’s stone buildings and surrounding agricultural land show how village life and farming have long been linked. The town is a useful stop alongside a wider look at the Raiguer’s wine country.

At Plaça Major, look for the parish church of Nostra Senyora de la Visitació and the Casa de la Vila, the town hall. The Consell’s village guide uses the square as the starting point for a walk.

A short walk

An easy public-street circuit around the village is a better starting point than an unverified track through vineyards.

Regular markets

  • Thursdays in Plaça Major and nearby streets in Consell village.
  • Sunday mornings at the Mercat dels Encants flea market in Consell’s industrial estate.

What makes this area special

Consell sits among the vineyards of central Mallorca. Its Sunday flea market brings people in from across the island, while the streets around Plaça Major still revolve around village life.

Attractions and things to do

Fiestas and saints’ days

  • Sant Antoni, 17 January. The traditional programme includes animal blessings in Plaça Major and a bonfire.
  • Sant Bartomeu, 24 August. The summer patronal festivities often begin a week or two earlier, with outdoor suppers and village events.
  • Fira de Tardor, usually the first Sunday after 18 October. The autumn fair runs along Carrer de Sant Bartomeu and neighbouring streets.

Beach trips from here

Platja de Palma. A separate outing if you want sand and a promenade after wine country. Choose a precise stop along the long resort coast.

What to eat here

Look for wines from Consell in the Binissalem denomination. If you’re visiting the flea market, lunch in the village or a tasting booked beforehand makes the morning last a little longer.

Good to know before you go

The flea market and Plaça Major are separate stops. Check the market address and arrange a driver if there’s a tasting in the plan. Check the TIB planner if you’re relying on public transport.

Frequently asked questions

Can I visit Consell without a car?

Look up the exact stop in the TIB journey planner before you go. If you’re heading out to a hamlet, beach or walking route, check the last bus back as well.

How would I spend half a day here?

  1. Browse the flea market if it’s Sunday.
  2. Walk around Plaça Major and the parish church.
  3. End at a winery if you’ve booked, or stay for lunch.
