Sencelles area guide: things to do, local history and walks

Sencelles and Biniali make a good pair for a village wander, and the archaeological route gives you a reason to spend longer out among the fields. If you like your Mallorca with stone walls and narrow lanes, this is a day to take slowly.

What to see and how to plan your visit

Begin around Sant Pere and the old streets. Biniali is a separate village stop within the municipality. If archaeology is the priority, check the official visitor information for the Sencelles–Costitx route.

Local history and heritage

Windmills and stately houses give you one period of the municipality’s history. The prehistoric sites around Sencelles and Costitx provide an older layer that can be explored separately.

A short walk

Treat the archaeological route as a set of sites and check the access for each. Avoid linking them on foot along roads unless there is a confirmed pedestrian route.

Regular markets

  • Sencelles village: Wednesdays in Plaça Nova, according to the town hall and the Pla de Mallorca guide. The regional calendar also lists a Saturday market in Sencelles. Confirm the Saturday venue locally.
  • Biniali: Saturdays in Biniali village.

What makes this area special

Windmills and villages are one part of the visit. The prehistoric sites around Sencelles and Costitx tell an older story.
